About the Role

PANATIX is hiring a Process & Application Engineer to anchor the technical engineering function behind every analyzer and sample conditioning system we propose and deliver. The role exists to turn customer process data into proven, fit-for-purpose solutions across oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, power generation, and water treatment applications in the MENA region.

You will work directly with the Management and the field engineering team to study analyzer applications, carry out the basic design of analyzer and sample conditioning solutions, run the process and thermodynamic calculations that verify those designs, and provide the engineering proof that stands behind every solution PANATIX puts in front of a customer.

Key Responsibilities

Process study and application engineering

  • Study customer process specifications, P&IDs, stream compositions, and operating envelopes for each analyzer application.
  • Translate application requirements into a defensible engineering basis of design, including identification of missing data and clarification requests to the customer.

Basic design of analyzer and sample conditioning solutions

  • Carry out the basic design of analyzer and sample conditioning systems (SCS), including tap point selection, fast-loop arrangement, conditioning train, and return / vent / drain scheme.
  • Select the right analyzer technology for the application (GC, FID, PID, UV/VIS, TDL, paramagnetic, electrochemical, etc.) in coordination with OEM partners.
  • Select sample system components (filters, regulators, coolers, knockouts, vaporizers, membranes, valves, tubing) and define the materials of construction.
  • Prepare sample system schematics, datasheets, and bills of materials for review.

Engineering verification and process calculations

  • Build process simulations in Aspen HYSYS (or equivalent) to validate sample behaviour from tap point to analyzer cell.
  • Carry out the full set of process calculations required to verify each design, including:
  • Dewpoint and hydrocarbon dewpoint analysis
  • Phase envelope construction (P-T diagrams) for the sample stream
  • Pressure drop and flow distribution across the full sample loop
  • Lag time / response time calculations for fast-loop and SCS layouts
  • Wake frequency calculations for thermowells and probe installations
  • Joule-Thomson cooling, vaporization, and condensation checks
  • Prepare engineering justification packages - calculation reports, sizing notes, and design rationale — for proposals, FAT, and SAT.

Cross-functional and customer-facing engineering support

  • Provide technical clarifications and OEM coordination support across PANATIX's principals.
  • Review and approve sample system drawings and BOMs before issue.
  • Provide technical back-up to the field team during commissioning, troubleshooting, and AMC interventions.

Required Qualifications

  • BSc in Chemical Engineering from a recognized Egyptian university with a graduation grade of Very Good or above.
  • Solid foundation in thermodynamics, phase behaviour, and fluid mechanics.
  • Demonstrated ability to take an incomplete customer specification and translate it into a defensible engineering solution.
  • Proficiency in Aspen HYSYS or equivalent process simulator.
  • Working knowledge of sample system design principles aligned with ISA-RP76 and analyzer sample system engineering best practice.
  • Familiarity with process analyzer technologies (GC, FID, PID, UV/VIS, TDL, paramagnetic, electrochemical) — or a genuine willingness to build deep expertise quickly.
  • Strong technical writing in English; able to produce clean calculation reports, design notes, and engineering justifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in process engineering, analyzer engineering, or SCS design.
  • Project exposure in oil & gas, petrochemical, or refining environments in Egypt or the wider MENA region.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (API, ASTM, ISA, IEC).
  • Experience with thermowell wake frequency calculations per ASME PTC 19.3 TW.
  • Prior experience preparing FAT and SAT engineering documentation packages.

What We Offer

  • Direct technical ownership across PANATIX's full project portfolio - study, design, calculations, and engineering verification.
  • Hands-on collaboration with the Sales and field engineering team.
  • A role where engineering rigour genuinely matters - your designs and calculations are what PANATIX stands behind in front of the client.
  • Cairo-based position with occasional site visits across Egypt and the MENA region.
